5 Ways to Up Your Cactus Cuteness Style

With the exception of dog motifs, mass-produced theme fashion and decor doesn’t stick to me. I tend to avoid overly trendy picture patterns because of how predictable they can be. That being said, I have found myself envying those who have “a thing”.

My sister’s thing is owls, and best friend’s thing is Hello Kitty. Even though I love dogs, I am picky about what I like. For example; put an oil-painted dachshund on a mug, and I’ll fight the urge to take it home, but a french bulldog with hipster glasses and a bowtie on a towel is quickly glanced over.

I have always lived in the midwest city of Cincinnati. Here, we get all four seasons. Lots of foliage in the warm months, and plenty of snow in the cold ones.

Last May, during my first trip to Arizona, something within me stirred. I saw for the first time a plethora of plants in their natural habitat that I had never seen outside niche nature collections.

Here, in the land of the desert, the cactus found its way into my heart.

The colors are fun, and bright. Some are cute and stubby, while others are tall and strong. There are endless variations!

I love a monochromatic color scheme, which are often utilized in variations of green when multiple cacti are used in one piece. On top of that, many bloom lovely colored flowers with an extra pop of statement color.

I find the cactus a refreshing take on nature-inspired patterns and motifs. The floral pattern has been done a thousand ways, but the cactus has yet to reach its full potential.

The cactus is a great pattern for summer style, clearly because of its relation to the desert. Cali style has ruled the summer for as long as I can remember, but the cactus brings out the summer vibes and reminds us where the sun really shines.

I love any break from monotony. The cactus is truly inspired, and speaks a clear message, “Its hot, but I like it.”
